Experience
I earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Georgetown University, with a minor in Government. I concentrated on U.S. and Middle Eastern history and as a senior was invited to write an Honors thesis for the History department. Following graduation, I received a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Boston College. I am currently teaching U.S. and Modern History at a public school in Massachusetts. I am very passionate about our country's history but am also fascinated with any area's past. I am equally skilled at and fond of tutoring for standardized exams, in addition to building enduring strategies in taking these extended tests. I liken the challenge of an SAT exam to that of running a marathon, with shorter course tests being short warm-ups. I have utilized that approach while teaching SAT preparation classes in various environments. I worked with a large SAT prep company as a grad student and also designed the curricula for and guided the region's SAT course. My teaching methods center on collaboration, no matter the setting, and I remain a firm believer that students learn best by focusing past memorization and looking at the overall clarity of a subject. Away from the classroom, I enjoy reading, running, and travel.
